Bangkok is the capital of Thailand. Bangkok itself has gained a reputation as an independent, dynamic and influential city. The city has its cultural landmarks and attractions along to its nightlife venues has made it synonymous with exoticism.

Cultural phenomenon, shopping heaven and tourist treasure. Welcome to Bangkok; one of the most cosmopolitan, contrasting and, above all, compelling of Asian cities. A steamy, pulsating, yet smiling metropolis of more than ten million – intense at first, but addictive as anything.

Come find your niche among dazzling temples, hotels of every breed and size, eclectic markets, gleaming palaces, ritzy shopping malls, a famous nightlife and the many things in between. Enjoy a memorable dinner cruise adrift the Chao Phraya River. Bask in the city’s warm, affluent glow at a skyscraping rooftop bar. Experience all the things – tuk-tuk ride, ladyboy show, Muay Thai (kickboxing) match, Thai massage – everyone always comes home talking about.

Discover Bangkok's beautiful, gleaming temples and the magnificent Grand Palace. Get lost in ancient Siamese history with a river cruise to the famous ruins of Ayuthaya, the Kingdom's former capital.

Experience the novelty and fun of a floating market, or apply your bargaining skills for some unbeatable prices in the stifling heat of the weekend market. Cycle around hidden trails for a completely different experience… But whatever you do, make sure to arrive in Bangkok with a zest to explore, and to make the most of every minute in this magical metropolis.

Bangkok lies about two meters (6.5 ft) above sea level, which causes problems for the protection of the city against floods during the monsoon season. Bangkok has a tropical wet and dry climate.
